Need Some Rain!!

Canoe Trip August 4, 2011

Brian and Rita Tkachuk took a short canoe trip on a nice day from Veteran’s Park to River Road.  The length of our ride was just under one hour.  No bugs.  Water was warm.  Struggled a few times with water depth isssues, but not too bad.  No injuries, one lost sandle.  Today our goal was to look at potential GPS markings and areas for future river signage.

Suggestions:

Watch the rocks under the Veteran’s Park Bridge.

Tie a rope to the front of your canoe as it will come in handy for shallow areas.

Wear old tennis shoes.

Given what we saw here today regarding the water depth, I would NOT venture further south between River Rd and Windsor Rd.  I suspect that south of the River Rd. Bridge would require a great deal of portaging and rocks would be a challenge.  We need rain!
